Summary

The tourism sector of Ukraine, as an integral part of the national economy and culture, has faced serious challenges as a result of russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. On the one hand, infrastructure destruction, threats to citizens’ safety, and economic instability have significantly limited tourism activities. On the other hand, tourism has the potential to become a driver of recovery, social cohesion, cultural heritage preservation, and enhancement of Ukraine’s international image. Therefore, studying the state, trends, and development prospects of the tourism sector is of particular importance during the wartime and post-war periods.

Our objective is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current state of Ukraine’s tourism industry, including its regions and oblasts, in wartime conditions; to identify the main challenges; and to outline potential directions for tourism development, taking into account socio-economic changes and security factors. In the course of the research, the following methods were used: literature review, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, and analogy; as well as specific scientific methods such as factor analysis and statistical methods.

The article explores the domestic development of tourism services during the post-COVID-19 pandemic and wartime periods, highlighting key tourism trends and public demand for leisure and recreation across regions. The main trends in regional tourism development are presented, along with forecasts of its socio-economic indicators for the near future. The research results can be used by government and local authorities to substantiate strategic plans for the organization, management, and development of tourism services during and after the war. Theoretical, methodological, and practical findings, along with the obtained results, may also be applied in similar studies aimed at shaping a forward-looking strategy for domestic tourism development to overcome the current crisis caused by martial law and active hostilities.
